Applications of Grass Pellet Production Line
Our grass pellet production lines have a wide range of applications, capable of processing various grass materials into pellets. Suitable raw materials commonly include alfalfa, hops, hay and reed grass. All your grass pellet raw materials can be accommodated by our production line.
How Does Grass Pellet Production Line Work?
The production process of grass pellets involves several stages, including raw material pretreatment, mixing and pelletizing, cooling, screening, and packaging. The equipment and specific operations for each stage require adjustments based on actual conditions. RICHI offer professional grass pellet production line equipment, ensuring seamless operation throughout the entire production process.

01
Crushing Section
This stage is for raw materials that do not meet pelletisation requirements. For instance, high-fibre grass and straw materials are not suitable for direct pelletisation. Instead, they must be crushed into fragments measuring between 3-5mm. If your raw material consists of rice husks, cottonseed hulls or other flake-like materials, crushing is not required.

02
Drying Section
This stage is designed to address situations where raw materials have high moisture content, such as fresh grasses. Increased moisture levels during the production process can result in pellets with a looser structure. The drying section ensures that the moisture content is at an ideal level for pelletisation. This can make them more easy to form and can improve overall output.

03
Pelletizing Section
This process is carried out in a grass pellet machine specifically designed for the purpose of mixing and pelletizing grass materials. It represents the core component of the entire grass pellet production line. Our grass pellet machine is engineered for optimal performance, delivering high production efficiency. It can produce grass pellets with a diameter of 4-12mm.

04
Cooling Section
Following the pelletisation process, the temperature of the grass pellets is elevated, which poses challenges when it comes to packaging and transportation. This section has been designed with an efficient cooling system that can rapidly cool the pellets to room temperature. It stabilises the pellet structure, and facilitates packaging and transportation.

05
Screening Section
At this stage of the process, the finished pellets are screened to ensure they meet the required diameter specifications. Undersized particles and powdery material are then removed, ready for the next stage of pelletisation. This approach is designed to optimise material cost savings while simultaneously increasing production output.

06
Packaging Section
This section represents the final stage of the production line, responsible for packaging the finished grass pellets. The company’s automated weighing and packaging system is highly efficient, ensuring that product packaging specifications are met while simultaneously reducing labour costs.

Frequently Asked Questions
RICHI grass pellet production line equipment has served thousands of customers worldwide. Through our interactions with clients, we’ve compiled a list of common concerns regarding raw materials, equipment, and services. If you share similar questions, you may find answers in the following text.
What are the requirements for raw materials in grass pellet production line?
+
Beyond efficient production line equipment, grass pellet manufacturing also demands attention to raw material moisture content, fineness, and structural hardness. Specific considerations include:
Primary raw materials for grass pellets encompass various dried grasses, fresh forage, hops, wheat straw, rice straw, cottonseed hulls, peanut shells, and other crop straws. Typically, raw material moisture should be maintained between 15% and 18%. At this moisture level, the material exhibits optimal binding properties and is most easily formed into pellets. This ensures both yield and quality of the final product.
Excessively high moisture content in raw materials leads to loose pellet structure and difficulty in forming. It also increases steam buildup within the grass pellet machine, increasing the risk of equipment clogging and shutdowns. In such cases, we recommend drying the raw materials using drying equipment. We offer specialized dryers to adjust raw material moisture to the optimal range.
In addition, since different raw materials possess varying fiber structures and hardness levels, their forming rates also differ. For harder materials, you can blend in softer components. Beyond this, our equipment allows you to adjust process parameters based on raw material characteristics and match the compression ratio of the die to ensure dense pellet formation.
What is the “die compression ratio” of a pellet machine? Why is it important?
+
Grass pellet machines compress and form pellets through dies, so die hole parameters directly affect the pellet formation quality. The die compression ratio typically refers to the ratio of die hole length to diameter.
If the compression ratio is mismatched with your raw material, the material will not undergo sufficient compression force and duration within the die. Therefore, the resulting grass pellets will have a loose structure, low forming rate, and significantly reduced output.
However, our dies undergo meticulous design and can be adjusted according to your raw material, ensuring that equipment parameter issues will not affect your pellet production yield.
What are the advantages of using grass pellets as fuel?
+
Grass pellets are made from agricultural waste such as grasses and straw through processing. As they are derived from biomass, they represent a green, renewable energy source.
Traditional fuels are typically bulky, requiring significant storage space and posing challenges for transportation. However, biomass pellets are formed through high-temperature compression, resulting in a more stable structure that facilitates storage and transport.
Compared to traditional coal fuels, they deliver higher calorific value and burn more completely. Moreover, they produce fewer pollutants during combustion, reducing environmental pollution and aligning with eco-friendly policies. The use of biomass pellet fuels like grass pellets and wood pellets promotes the recycling of waste resources, yielding significant economic and environmental benefits.
